United In Dalmatia: Intruder’s Vision & Values Strengthening

About INTRUDER

Founded in 2015, Intruder addresses the information overload crisis in vulnerability management, helping organizations prioritize, track, and receive timely alerts about critical issues. Being a hybrid company, with headquarters in the UK and employees from remote locations, the company has received multiple accolades, including selection for GCHQ's Cyber Accelerator and inclusion in Deloitte's Tech Fast 50 list for 2023, and now serves over 3,000 customers worldwide.

“We’re a cybersecurity startup with 55 people across the UK, Europe, and with a few people in Argentina and South Africa as well. Less than half of our team is based near our London HQ, so we wanted to give people the opportunity to connect with each other, form bonds and relationships, team-build, and work on our company vision, mission and values. All against the backdrop of the Adriatic!"

Impact on team dynamics and productivity

Intruder has seen significant growth in revenue and personnel in the last year, and to celebrate, they organized an unforgettable trip to the island of Brač in Dalmatia. This occasion provided a setting for people to meet face-to-face, to bond and enhance collaboration.

“We loved the location. We had beautiful weather (25 °C and sunny while the UK already felt like it was in the depths of winter!) and we got to swim in the sea, sail on the Adriatic, and have seaside meals together as a team.”

Revitalizing team interactions and celebrating 3000 customers

For Intruder, organizing an all-hands event was a strategic decision aimed at nurturing a sense of community and strengthening bonds among their globally dispersed team hailing from the UK, Europe, Argentina and South Africa. The challenge of coordinating such a gathering was significant due to the diverse locations of their team members.

The key objective of the retreat was to reinforce the company's vision, mission, and values through a balanced approach of work and play. Another significant achievement celebrated on this retreat was the acquisition of the 3000th customer, which could only be achieved with the power of Intruder’s biggest asset—their people.

By partnering with us, Intruder was able to delegate the logistical complexities of planning the event. This allowed them to concentrate on their primary goals: enhancing company culture and showing appreciation for their team's efforts. The event successfully strengthened team cohesion and communication, demonstrating the profound impact of feeling valued and appreciated.

“Kruno is extremely organized, and made my life as the internal organizer of the retreat much easier. From the airport transfers, the conference room and AV setup, to the team-building activities on the boat, everything was seamless!”

Retreat overview and activities

The retreat was thoughtfully organized with a balanced structure consisting of a working session on the first day, focused on the topic of Values, which was also the main theme of the retreat. The day concluded with dinner in an Olive orchard.

The second day was all team-building activities, relaxation and leisure time. Starting with a morning yoga session, this well-planned approach ensured that participants could fully appreciate the picturesque surroundings of the island with a boat trip around it.

This blend of leisure and activities maintained an environment where team members could connect, collaborate, and rejuvenate, enhancing the overall success of the retreat.

On the third day, after the breakfast and check-out, Intruder’s staff was given free time to explore the island, Dalmatia or other parts of Croatia.

Final thoughts

The Intruder team had tons of fun and productive three days on Brač Island, creating lasting memories. This being their first all-hands retreat outside of the UK, the teams were thrilled with everything, people affirmed their bonds, while the management agreed to continue with the retreat annually in the future.

Their goal of reinforcing the company's vision, mission, and values was achieved in an unobtrusive manner by boosting the team's feeling of achievement and value. Once again, interpersonal communication showed to be essential in a remote work environment and key to successfully bridge any gaps that might have existed before.
